Ubuntu 10.04 Is A Mess

Dist upgrade went wrong -> had to re-set up the whole machine. Great start. First boot -> my mouse + keyboard thing was being recognized as bluetooth connector -> I was not able to use them. After editing some config files things worked fine. Installed a new graphics driver -> plymouth bootsplash doesn’t work anymore. SRSLY WTF!?.

Ubuntu 10.04 @ server -> VMWare Server was not able to compile the kernel modules without a patch. WTF!?

Fuck the 6 month release cycle and rather release a bugless system…

A Ball Pen Upside Down = HID?

Just writing down what I thought of today:

Imagine a huge ball pen with the ball on the top (with no ink of course).

You can spin the ball with your thumb and it’ll translate the spin into mouse movement. Push the ball to left-click. That would be so comfortable.

I’ll never do that though I guess…

AcidMods Team RnD

Hey,

I’m a member of RnD now. Hopefully things will work well over there at acidmods.com.

However, I was not able to start a new project yet since I’m still waiting for my USB programmer.

Ideas for new projects after this one:

- make a robot out of a R/C car

- make a color changing vodka-bottle-lamp (yeah I got the idea of using a vodka bottle as a lamp from the internet)

- get a child-keyboard (toy thing) and make a midi controller out of it

I’m not sure what exactly to do yet.

PIC Programming Sucks

USB Programmer from Malaysia takes forever to ship, JDM needs ~30min to wirte data to the 8kB flash, compiler is limited to 2kB output size, what the fuck is this!? I didn’t start programming at all since I’m still waiting for the (hopefully fast) USB Programmer.

It’s So Fast…WTF!?

Hey,

with my new logic analyzer I can capture the I²C data. But the wireless chip seems to be too fast. This thing is…FAST! I can measure a 12MHz clock – at 24MHz sampling rate. So yeah, it’s too fast for me I guess. Some interesting stuff happens on I²C, for example some fake read operation gets called ever 5 secounds. However, I’m going to do something else I guess.

Looking For Ideas

Hey,
I’m desperately looking for something to develop. Should be something about hardware. I don’t like working with consoles too much because there’s pretty much nothing documented. I just have no idea. Leave a comment or write me an eMail if you have any :].

Thanks

Welcome To My New Blog

Hey,

this is my new blog. I will write about the things I develop on here. Feel free to leave a comment or write me an eMail whenever you find something I do interesting. I’m looking for new ideas all the time, too. Just a little more about myself: I’m a 15 years old german guy trying to finish off my school as best as possible. But I also develop things as long as possible. You may know me from that PS/2 Mouse connected to the PSP thing already, that’s the kind of stuff I like to do. Let’s see what this blog leads to.

BTW: I also added two projects already, check out the Projects page ;) .
